Dear Dr.Parker,

Im a 25 year old male diagnosed with adult ADHD. I’m currently taking 60 mg of Vyvanse trying to get the right dosage. Before i was diagnosed with ADHD i was diagnosed for having depression. My doctor prescribed me 60 Mg of Cymbalta. Since the day i started Cymbalta i never felt any of its advantages. When i started taking Vyvanse I felt like it was a wonder drug. I was positive my depression was just a result of me not accomplishing my goals bc of my ADHD. Due to the sexual side effects of Cymbalta i quit 60 mg cold turkey 9 days ago. I was on the medicine for 2 months. I know i should have weaned of the drug but the side effects made me want to just quit taking it. The withdrawal symptoms are horrible. i have serious headaches, dizziness and brain zaps. I feel like this drug should be classified as addictive, but for some reason when i take the vyvanse the withdrawal symptoms goes away. Do you have any idea how long the withdrawal can last?
I have been trying to find my DOE for Vyvanse. I eat a protein breakfest and then take the Vyvanse 60MG at noon. At approximately 1:00 p.m. i can feel it kick in. I usually suffer from a little social anxiety, but when I’m on the Vyvanse i become confident. I look people in there eyes and can focus on what they are saying. I get all of my tasks completed. I have read articles about people not feeling the likability effect they got from adderall. I feel that effect with the vyvanse. The main problem I have is at 5:00 pm i get a major headache and feel completely unmotivated. My hands and feet get extremely cold and numb and this only happens at around 5:00. I become very irritable and feel extremely depressed and tired. I noticed this blog is about ADHD and multiple diagnosis. Im wondering if this is the drug wearing off too early or if it could be a mood disorder brought out by the Vyvanse. For 5 hours I feel an increase of Energy ,motivation, and positive mood. I also find myself being extremely social during the first 4 hours. For example, i will call people and be very talkative. My appetite is suppressed but i still make myself drink and eat on a steady schedule. I feel very hungry around 6 pm. I usually make my number 2 in the morning and before i go to sleep. Is it possible i’m outside the “top of the window”? For the first 5 hours i feel perfect. its just afterwards that causes me major problems. I can take the vyvanse at 5:00 P.M. and still fall asleep at 1:00 A.M.. Any additional information would help. My Doctor doesn’t seem to be to versed on ADHD meds. This became apparent to me when he told me 30 mg of Adderall is equal to 30 mg of Vyvanse (which i know is incorrect). Thank you so much. i wish all doctors could be as educational as you are.
