Brief note readers: because I have to figure out how to get YouTube loaded on this blog.

So what am I doing on the weekends? Finally got my blog RSS feeds back up, got my new Mac out to do the video thing, and posted this short video on YouTube.

This is yours truly on YouTube, – really don’t have the time now to figure out how the video player works/loads, so will encourage you to simply hit the link.

I do appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself to you – and the good news is this video is just a start. There will be more, just takes awhile to get over the camera shy, especially when in the room talking to yourself!

No professional production, no head in the epicenter of the screen, – and check out the ‘transition’ when I mispronounced the name of my new book, and had to edit it out.

Dr, Parker,
I loved your entry on You Tube. What a great service you are doing!
I wanted to extend my appreciation for your help and insight and update you on my daughter, Allison. To jog your memory, since you had done her brain scan in ’06 you graciously intervened on her behalf while she was at Discovery Ranch, the residential treatment center in Utah. Unfortunately the psychiatrist there never returned your calls, and he has since been replaced. However, your assessment that she was on too many medications was accurate. She was gradually weaned off all meds and is now taking only Ritalyn (to my surprise it was the only med she had not tried) 40 mg 2 X daily. The transformation in her behavior has been amazing. She finally stepped up to the plate to take responsibility, graduated from high school, and is now home ready to start college. Thank you so very much for your willingness to help us in this long-distance treatment. Your advice was the pivotal catalyst in her road to recovery. I thought you would enjoy hearing a ‘happy ending’. I am so glad we met you. My thanks to you a million times over for helping my daughter become free to be herself.

Thanks so much for your very kind remarks, and the fond memories of that challenging, very edgy situation with Allison. She sounded so delightful, and clearly wanted to turn things around, – but sometimes the right details are long in coming. She had a determination in her voice, and, though you never know what the actual outcome will be, those who chase recovery persistently most often make it to that next level. It was a real privilege working with your entire family, a good example of the fact that even terrific families can experience unpredictable emotional and developmental challenges. Your kind update made my day!
